Almond Hazelnut Bliss Balls

Returning from holidays, consuming copious amounts of carbs, sugary desserts, you name it, I had some serious detoxing to do!

Over 48 hours, the excess weight of 2.2kgs dropped from the scales.

It sounds like I have been starving, or living on lemon juice, or taking pills, right?  Wrong.

I don’t believe in any of the fad detoxes, and when I use the word detox, I am referring to stripping my diet back to basics, and only eating and enjoying whole foods.

It is day 3 and I needed a bit of a hit.  I have been struggling with jet lag, and trying not to eat excess fruit or sweet ‘alternatives’ but to get through the rest of the day, I knew I needed something that was still nutrient dense, but would help with those sugary cravings.

So I bring you my bliss ball flavour of the week!

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup raw hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 16 medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds (super nutrient dense and high in protein)
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder

Combine all ingredients in a high powered blender until coming together.  Either rolls in coconut and additional hemp seeds or leave as is.  Store in refrigerator for up to a week, or freezer for 2-3 weeks.

Makes 19 (depending on size).
